Ida Fisher Davidoff was born in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1903, to Maimie Lurensky and Jacob Fisher, Lithuanian Jewish immigrants. She attended Simmons College (A.B. 1924) and Radcliffe College (A.M. 1925). She married Leo Davidoff, a neurosurgeon, in 1926; they had four children: Helen, Leonore, Frank, and Mary.
